Utilise your Prison and Corrective Services expertise to provide support and advice to Corrections Victoria at Prisons within Barwon South WestSix Casual opportunities to work with a high-performing and passionate team in the Victorian Public ServiceAbout the Business Unit: The Barwon Southwest Prison Precinct incorporates four custodial facilities located 6km north-west of Lara, 20km from the centre of Geelong and about 70km from Melbourne. The four custodial facilities consist of two maximum security prisons being HM Prison Barwon and Western Plains Correctional Centre and medium security prison Marngoneet Correctional Centre and Karreenga Annex. The BSW Prison Services Team provides both operational and administrative services to HMP Barwon, Marngoneet Correctional Centre and the Karreenga Annex.
About the Role: The Justice Officer, Prison Services - Casual is an entry-level position to a career in Prison Services within the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS). In this role, you will provide support and assistance across a range of Prison Services functions including finance, stores, canteen, records and property in the Barwon South West Prison Precinct.
Some of your duties will include:
Contributing to the efficiency of the administrative function through actively contributing to business improvement initiativesUnder supervision, providing quality financial and procurement services, in accordance with the Financial Management Act 1994, other government regulations and guidelines and local operating proceduresPerforming accounts functions overseeing the administration of prisoner private monies in addition to accounts payables, receivables, reconciliation, data entry, and reporting.About You: As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines and regulationsProficient in the use of software and standard office equipmentExperience and/or understanding of working within a correctional environment or ability to learn.Qualifications/Requirements: No formal qualifications are required.Forklift licence preferred but not essential.How to Apply: Please click the Apply button on this advertisement. The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include reference checks, national police checks and misconduct screening. Dependant on the role, other checks may include VicRoads checks, drivers licence checks, medical checks, Working with Children Checks, and Declaration of Private Interests (for executive and responsible officer roles).
