As our Junior Sous Chef in our one of our popular venues, reporting to the Chef de Cuisine, you will be a natural leader in the kitchen and bring the best out of the team. 
This is a fantastic opportunity where you will take good care of our guests ensuring that every dish that leaves the kitchen is consistent and delicious.
A few of your responsibilities: Support the Chef de Cuisine and Sous Chefs in the day-to-day running of the departmentEnsure an open line of communication between the team, management and guests.Mentor and support the Demi's, Commis, Apprentices & Cooks in the team for retention and individual growth.Ensure consistency across every meal coming out of the kitchenWhat are we looking for: Proven experience as a Chef and relevant tertiary qualifications, such as Certificate IV in Commercial CookeryKnowledge of a variety of high-volume, high quality cooking stylesStrong understanding of produce, culinary techniques, and kitchen equipmentExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsFull working rights to commit to a minimum of 40 hours per week working varied shifts, including weekends, public holidays, late nights and early morningsWhat can we offer you: Starting salary of $77 143, plus super (hourly rate $39.04 plus loadings and penalties)A great career move into a well-supported teamUniform laundered and ready for you daily on propertyFree transport on Light Rail from Central to The StarDiscounted parking available on propertyStructured breaks and meals provided on shiftThe Star is an Employer of Choice for Gender Diversity awarded by WGEAGroupwide Diversity & Inclusion focus areas including LGBTQI, Multicultural, Gender and IndigenousPlease be aware that eligibility checks are required as part of the recruitment process and ongoing employment for this position.
