Junior Project Manager/Coordinator (Fitouts) Why is this role for you?
You've always wanted to be a project manager. To lead people. To be the expert everyone goes to with questions.
You're not quite there yet skills-wise – but you know you have the attitude and smarts to do it.
You've got a decent post-grad (2 years+) skill base as a CA or project coordinator and you want to learn things the right way. Cutting corners isn't for you.
In this role, you'll have a PM and a director work with you one-on-one to teach you how to properly price projects, program without making mistakes, and keep clients super-happy. Within time you'll be running your own smaller projects.
3 of their project coordinators in Sydney have been promoted to project manager over the years because the company invests time and money in you to make you the best you can be.
Initially, the salary will be $80-$110k package with a yearly financial appraisal and bonus which has been paid in 9 of the last 10 years. This figure will quickly rise as you learn more skills.
You'll work from both their office in Hamilton and their project sites in the Newcastle area.
Ready to fast-track your way to the top? Ready to work with a builder who'll show you the right way? Then this is the role for you.
And what about the company? A close, friendly team of 25 with directors who are very hands-on and who have worked with one of the best builders in Sydney. 14 of their staff have been there 5 years+ - they stick around because they feel respected, supported, and are well-trained. You'll deliver projects from $250k -$15 million in commercial and education fit-out sectors. Enjoy regular social events, construction functions and paid training in a company with a proper family-friendly vibe. Sydney is their head office and their Newcastle business is doing really well and expanding - a great time to join. This looks perfect for me, but what do you expect from me? You'll need to be confident that you understand fit-out projects and have good core CA skills. You've completed a construction-relevant degree and can work 5 days a week. You are keen to learn from others and want to be a Project manager in the long term. On the odd occasion, you may need to work from the Sydney office one day a week. You can juggle multiple tasks across 1-2 projects at a time. Design development, preconstruction, coordinating sites and supporting the PM are all part of this role. You don't need to be the finished article at all. You'll get training, support and advice every day, you just need to bring the work ethic and attitude that you want to be the best you can.
I'm intrigued, what's the next step?
You probably want to know more about the business – their projects, their plans and their history.
