Junior Product Designer

Junior Product Designer
Company:

Tanda

Details of the offer

About The RoleTanda is looking for a Junior Product Designer to join our Brisbane team. As a Junior Product Designer, you will be a usability advocate helping to deliver smooth and satisfying experiences via our mobile and web platforms. In a typical week, you might work on some wireframes for a new feature, send out a customer survey to gather data on a user flow, implement some new components in our design system, improve an existing user flow, and crush some UI/UX bugs. The role is a hybrid role - with all designers contributing to our codebase. You don't need to know much code to start, but you need to be willing to learn the basics of a front-end stack: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. At Tanda, we follow the Shape Up Framework. As a designer, it means that we favour lightweight prototyping tools (Figjam, Excalidraw) and in-code design over high-fidelity mockups. With the guidance of our constantly evolving design system, fat marker sketches are implemented directly in code by both engineers and designers.About YouIf you have an appetite for solving problems and an interest in design we want to hear from you. Prior experience in design or tertiary education in design is helpful but not required. Coding Bootcamp graduates are encouraged to apply. We strongly value transferable skills from other areas of tech: Product Management, Engineering, or Customer Support. You will have an appreciation for good design and the impact it can have on our lives. You might also have an interest in the fields of technology, data science, or user research. If you have a portfolio or GitHub repository with examples of your work it might help you stand out from the crowd.About The TeamYou will join a small design team alongside a Mid-level and Senior Designer who will provide you with mentorship and guidance. The design team occupies an important place in between the product and development teams with the responsibility of taking raw and rough ideas and refining them into interfaces that our customers actually want to use. You will work closely with Product Managers, helping to define problems/solutions and conducting user research. You will also work closely with engineers, assisting with front-end development and writing design documentation. The design team is currently focused on building out a comprehensive design system. This involves planning UI components, writing usage notes and guidelines, ensuring consistency throughout our product, researching UI/UX best practices, and identifying areas for improvement in our product. Why Apply?See your impactWe're a small design team, but our product is global. You can personally have a huge impact on our customers' productivity. We're not always sprintingOur development cycle uses the Shape Up framework. Unlike a lot of "agile" frameworks - we have dedicated 'cool-down' time to breathe; using it to fix bugs, refactor, focus on professional development, and try out new technical possibilities.Experience amazing opportunitiesWe recognise when people are exceptional, and as a scale-up, we're flexible enough to give people new opportunities to excel, both in existing teams and in new teams/roles.Solve deep and interesting problemsWorkforce management is an innovative industry, and creative solutions are a necessity to thrive.A genuinely great company cultureEnjoy fully stocked food and beverage fridges, book club, monthly "demo days" where everyone celebrates their best work, board game and Magic: the Gathering nights, and much more!Further Benefits? Real projects: We hire based on real demand, not based on arbitrary hiring rounds? Experience: You won't be shielded from customers or responsibility? Culture: You will be part of a team that is passionate about what they do and don't suffer boredom easily? Team retreats: Two retreats per year - a full company retreat & a product and engineering team retreat? Professional Development: Opportunities for professional development, and industry conferenceAbout TandaTanda is an established, fast-growing tech company. We are on a mission to build Australia's leading all-in-one workforce management platform. Our vision is to eliminate employment friction for shift and hourly workers, reducing the world's unemployment rate. Our main activities centre around engineering, marketing, sales, research, and supporting functions.
