We are currently seeking a Tailings Engineer for our Mine Waste team in Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne. The team requires someone with relevant and proven tailings experience to support the continuous growth of the Mining Advisory business.
The Opportunity Our geotechnical and tailings engineers work on large-scale world-class projects both in Australia and internationally, and are looking for talented engineers to help support the ongoing growth and success of our Australasian business. We are the tailings consultant of choice for several global mining companies, and our team works across the entire tailings project cycle from feasibility, site investigation, design, construction, commissioning, operations and maintenance, and closure. As a WSP professional, you will have access to our world-class geotechnical laboratory facilities and global network of technical expertise.

Travelling to site to oversee construction of tailings storage facility designs developed by our Mine Waste team;Interpreting results from laboratory testing and preparing summary reports;Developing a basis for defensible soil strength parameters, using laboratory and field results;Undertaking screening level and detailed design analyses to support the design of tailings storage facilities and other earth structures, initially under close guidance from our senior specialists, but with a view to carrying out such work independently;Developing designs for tailings storage facilities and other earth structures;Managing the specification and implementing design changes while on site;Assisting with project planning and preparation of technical deliverables;Assisting with the coordination of client-contractor requests;Preparing and delivering technical reports on time;Undertaking design assessments, including stability and seepage analyses;Preparation of technical deliverables such as proposals and reports;Working with and providing support to other members of the group as required;Working with other professionals in project teams;Conducting general field and office assignments under supervision;Undertaking site and QA/QC activities;Identifying safety hazards and reporting OH&S incidents;Completing inductions and pre-requisites as required;Conducting all work to satisfy all company, client and government conditions, policies, procedures, regulations and standards, as required.About you Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline;Previous experience working on tailings/mine waste related projects locally or internationally, ideally in a consulting environment;Basic analytical and problem-solving skills;Excellent written and verbal communication skills;Enthusiasm for fieldwork with practical experience;Ability to work efficiently autonomously and in a team environment;Good attention to detail and time management ability;Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.With us, you can.
