We are currently looking for a Junior Engineer with Rail/Track experience to join the team working out of our site in Rutherford, NSW About the role: John Holland NSW Resurfacing Operations Team assists our Clients to restore the geometry of their track by utilising tampers to pick up and align the rail whilst simultaneously packing ballast around the sleepers to maintain its position.
Providing a more solid foundation and a smoother ride for rail traffic.
The 13 person strong Team, utilises John Holland owned Tampers and Regulators, across a wide geographical area during periods of low rail traffic to deliver these works for multiple rail networks within the state.
The Team, consisting of a Superintendent, Supervisors and Operators, is ably supported by internal Plant, Rollingstock Engineering, Finance and HSEQ teams.
You, as the Junior Engineer, will be a pivotal part of the Resurfacing Team and help manage these internal and external interfaces whilst continuously improving all that we do.

You will be part of an extremely busy and successful top tier contractor.
Reporting to the Senior Project Engineer you will be a qualified engineer (or working towards) and have industry based experience.
You will enjoy delivering a program of works and working in a busy team interfacing with internal and external stakeholders.
Have an appetite for budgets, systems, stakeholders, planning and construction delivery Safety values, communication skills, people skills and live and breathe John Holland's 'People First' culture are essential.
Responsibilities: Review site-based documents and participate in their development where appropriate, to ensure compliance of the works with technical specifications, applicable legislation, approvals, standards and JHG SQE Risk Management process.
Exercise professional judgement in resolving engineering and Client issues, i.e.
construction methods, design, program, engineering procedures, etc.
Demonstrate financial management skills including demonstrated behaviour in reducing costs and meeting budgets.
Undertake cost controlling and estimating for all existing and upcoming Resurfacing Projects.
Maintain, utilise and analyse performance dashboards to report and provide recommendations to improve project performance, compliance and defects and/or non-conformance.
Support the Superintendent in verifying subcontractors' claims and variations.
Work with Supervisors and Superintendent to ensure all resurfacing consists have approved paths for travel with the relevant Rail Infrastructure Manager.
Maintain drawing, equipment and calibration registers for the project.
Implement and communicate risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects.
Undertake quantitative and qualitative safety, environment and quality risk assessments and inspections to ensure acceptable quality.
Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems, reporting and procedures.
Attend site on an as-required basis to support the delivery of works for our Clients.
