As a Junior Buyer, you'll manage the Boyswear 8 - 16 category in collaboration with a Senior Buyer/Buyer, helping to develop and purchase a range of stylish, high-quality products that align with our customer's needs. You'll play a key role in achieving our sales and profit targets by balancing fashion, price, margin, and quality.
Key Responsibilities: Development a range of products that meet the company's strategic objectives. Analyze market trends locally and overseas to inform product decisions. Manage the full range-building process, from concept to final product approval, ensuring product quality and relevance. Work closely with suppliers, quality control, and marketing and online teams to bring the best products to our customers. Participate in budgets and strategy presentations, range reviews, product presentations, and weekly trade reviews. Approve lab dips, artwork, production samples, and attend quality control fits. Analyze product performance regularly to inform future buying strategies. Conduct post-season analysis and react swiftly to best and worst-selling lines. Negotiate cost prices and margins with suppliers to meet profitability criteria. Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and external partners. Provide support and mentorship to Assistant Buyers. Communicate critical customer needs and production issues to suppliers to ensure compliance with company standards. Create advertising briefs and support the marketing team with promotional product planning. Ensure compliance with procedural standards and industry regulations. Qualifications and Experience: Tertiary qualifications in Retail, Fashion Design, or Garment Construction. Minimum 2.5 years of Assistant Buyer experience, with at least 1 year as a Junior Buyer responsible for a product range. 1 year of range-building experience from concept to final product approval. Proven experience in product development, including fabric sourcing, lab dips, and print approvals; ideally at entry or mid-market retail positioning. Experience managing multiple overseas suppliers. Passion for merchandise, with drive and enthusiasm to learn and grow. Experience managing a large category or number of SKUs. Solid understanding of trends impacting apparel.
