As a journalist at Mediaweek, you will play a key role in supporting the editorial team by developing and producing high-quality content for our trade media platform, with a particular focus on creating engaging stories for our morning newsletter. In this role, you will work closely with editorial, creative, and SEO teams to craft impactful narratives and represent the company confidently in client-facing engagements.Key Responsibilities:Story ideation & content creation: Generate original story ideas based on current trends, industry developments, and audience insights, quickly turning concepts into publishable content. Stay on top of relevant industry news and trends, consistently identifying opportunities for timely and thought-provoking stories. Adapt content across multiple platforms (web, newsletters, social media, etc.), tailoring stories to specific formats and audiences. Write clear, engaging, and informative articles, ensuring each piece aligns with our editorial standards and resonates with readersExperienced journalism & storytelling:Story ideation & content creation: Conduct in-depth interviews with industry experts, executives, and other relevant sources to develop compelling, well-researched stories. Edit and refine content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and tone, style, and messaging consistency. Collaborate with the editorial team to structure stories effectively, maintaining a strong narrative flow and making complex subjects easily digestible for our audience.Collaboration & Cross-Team Support: Work closely with the marketing team to ensure content is aligned with the overall editorial strategy and visual design. Basic knowledge of SEO best practises. Actively contribute to brainstorming sessions, providing fresh ideas for stories, features, and multimedia content.Client Relations & Communication: Represent Mediaweek in client-facing situations, confidently presenting ideas, content strategies, and editorial concepts. Answer industry queries regarding editorial direction, deadlines, and story development, fostering strong, positive relationships.Editorial support & development: Support the editorial team with daily content production, ensuring deadlines and editorial goals are met. Participate in editorial meetings, helping to shape the direction of ongoing projects and initiatives. Contribute to the editorial team's continuous improvement by staying updated on best practices, industry changes, and emerging media trends.Key skills & qualifications: Experience: At least two years of experience working in trade or industry-specific journalism, with a strong understanding of the needs and expectations of niche media audiences. Writing & Editing: Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with an ability to create clear, concise, and engaging content.
