Journalist Newsgathering (Chief of Staff)Job no: 504087Work type: Contract Full TimeLocation: SydneyCategories: Leadership, Journalism/Content Making, Broadcast Operations/Transmission, Presenter/ReporterContract Vacancy for Approximately 12 MonthsLocation: Ultimo then ParramattaBuild strong engagement with local audiencesLead authentic and high-quality News content across multiple platforms$98K to $119Kp.a plus 15.4% Nominated SuperAbout the RoleWork closely with the Deputy State Editor and newsroom leadership team to assign reporters and field operators to deliver daily and breaking multiplatform news coverage.Reporting to the NSW News Editor, the role will also involve:Managing logistics for breaking news coverage to ensure that relevant newsgathering resources are deployed to meet editorial needs across multiple platforms.Anticipating state and national coverage needs across all platforms.Delivering engaging content using innovative storytelling techniques for NSW audiences across digital and broadcast platforms.Deliver multiplatform coverage plans for big or significant stories.About YouYou have highly advanced knowledge of news production in a multi-platform environment, and substantial editorial skills and judgement to strategically identify and drive impactful and distinctive daily and real-time content for all platforms, as well as breaking news and major events.Your skills and experience will include:Exceptional communication, interpersonal and time management skills.Creative storytelling skills and an ability to write concisely and accurately.Flexibility, initiative and influencing skills.Proven experience leading a team in a fast-paced news environment.Experience using audience data for insights and the latest trends in audience behaviour.Ability to commission content for broadcast, digital, mobile and social platforms.The ABC strives for diversity and inclusion in the workplace, and to promote a culture of opportunity.
