Job Description
Goldfields Region manages 8.6 million hectares of conservation reserves including national parks, conservation parks, nature reserves, timber reserves, State forest and former pastoral leases (proposed reserves).Staff within the region work with traditional owners in many of these reserves to help protect the natural and cultural values of the area and to ensure customary activities and traditional practices are maintained.
Goldfields Region is also responsible for fire preparedness, weeds and feral animal control on 40.3 million hectares of unallocated Crown land and unmanaged reserves.
We are currently seeking a Joint Management Coordinator to join our Goldfields team.
Under the limited (Level 5) or minimal (Level 6) direction from the Regional Leader Joint Management, you will:
Contribute to negotiations for Plan for Our Parks outcomes, Indigenous Land Use Agreements (ILUAs) and Joint Management Agreements in the Goldfields Region including coordinating meetings with Traditional Owners and stakeholders in the region and contributing to the development of guidelines and standards for joint management and Traditional Owner engagement.Be responsible for planning and coordinating a regional works program associated with Joint Management in the region including oversight of the implementation of the Joint Management Service which involves employment of Aboriginal rangers in land management activities.

To be successful for this position, you need to demonstrate your suitability against the following essential selection criteria.
Demonstrated (Level 5) or considerable (Level 6) experience in conservation and natural land management including environmental, recreational, fire and reserve management. Demonstrated (Level 5) or considerable (Level 6) knowledge and skills in the leadership, and management of staff and works program planning, including a demonstrated ability to promote staff development, deal with contentious issues and improve performance, empowering staff to achieve agreed outcomes. Evidence of highly developed oral communication and interpersonal skills and experience (Level 5) or considerable experience (Level 6) in effectively engaging, communicating and liaising with Aboriginal people, the community, stakeholders and government agencies, plus evidence of ability and willingness to work with Traditional Owners to deliver joint management outcomes in the context of the region's Plan for Our Parks Initiative opportunities and other Aboriginal Joint Management programs. Experience or sound understanding of Aboriginal Joint Management planning processes. About Us
