John Moriarty Football (JMF) is seeking a Community Coordinator & Coach for our established program located in the regional community of Kuranda, QLD. We seek someone who has strong connections to culture and community locally in far north QLD, is passionate about sharing this and supporting the development of staff to ensure the delivery of a culturally safe and relevant program.

Qualifications & ExperienceA passion for teaching/developing youth and working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander teams to help create positive change amongst children in Indigenous communities.Ability to be a cultural mentor by providing understanding, knowledge, development and support to staff around cultural protocols and local traditions through informal and formal education and training.Current Australian driver's license (manual or ability to obtain).Working with Children's check (WWCC) and National Police Check.Strong written & verbal communication skills.First Aid Qualified.ResponsibilitiesPastoral care and support for JMF staff and young people.Coordinate and deliver the JMF curriculum in schools and in collaboration with other community and sports organisations.Adapt curriculum to suit players' needs to ensure best practice learning environment.Mentor JMF players through the JMF core values of resilience, leadership, respect, and teamwork.Deliver and promote a clear player development pathway, utilising player reports each school term.Be a role model for staff and players in relation to behaviour, attendance, punctuality, personal organisation and management.Deliver on the Foundation's nutrition and well-being programs.Liaise with key stakeholders connected to program delivery and organisation of program requirements through local suppliers.Notify and respond on matters of staff and participants welfare, codes of conduct and behaviour as well as administrative and logistical support for current and potential scholarship holders.Support and lead the recruitment of Indigenous candidates through regular engagement with schools, educational institutions and community groups to develop and retain local coaching candidates.Support the JMF program through a range of activities in relation to stakeholder relationships, building capacity, program operations and team coordination, program delivery, health and well-being and empowering the local delivery team.The Successful ApplicantThis exciting position is integral to JMF's continued operations in Kuranda and surrounding communities. You will be able to provide cultural mentoring and development of JMF staff and ensure strong connections with key stakeholders, Traditional Custodians, elders and families to support program delivery.
