We currently have opportunities for a skilled and versatile Jewellery or Silversmithing Tutor to join our fabulous team.
Sydney Art School is the leading private college in Australia for development of skills in the visual arts. It is a Registered Training Organisation delivering classes to both Domestic and International students.
Students enrolled in jewellery making classes will be a mix of those working towards Diploma level qualifications as well as students who are interested in developing skills for personal or career development.

Shift days available: Weekdays afternoons/evenings & Saturdays
Studio Location: Hornsby
Student age range: 18+
Pay Range: $45 – $65+ per hour
Typical Class Duration: 3-4 hours
Weekly hours: Ranging from 4 up to 24 hours
What are the qualities we are looking for?
Essential
Experience in jewellery making and/or silversmithing.
Ethics, integrity and a team spirit.
You will need to be friendly and a good communicator. Every week you will give directions to students, and collaborate with other tutors at the school.
Fluency in English is essential, but the ability to speak another language is a benefit as the school attracts students from a wide variety of cultures.
Punctuality and reliability are essential.
Desirable
Formal qualifications or enrolment in related undergraduate or post-secondary level courses are well regarded.
Experience in working with metal clays would also be an advantage.
The ability to deliver art classes in other artistic disciplines such as painting, drawing or printmaking would also be well regarded.
Being organised but flexible is important. Week by week you will work instruct students with varying levels of skill.
Key Responsibilities:
Delivering weekly classes to enrolled students to establish and develop jewellery making skills.
Guiding students through engaging projects appropriate to their skill levels.
Ensuring student satisfaction to promote re-enrolment in future classes.
Monitoring studio equipment for safety and advising management if repairs or replacements are required.
Working with management to create new classes to attract new students and encourage existing students to re-enrol.
Providing input to assessors regarding student competence when requested.
