Jewell Hancock Employment Lawyers is a Melbourne-based employment law firm acting exclusively for employees. We provide independent, affordable, and expert advice to workers across a wide range of employment law matters, including unfair dismissal, general protections, redundancy, breach of contract, sexual harassment, sham contracting, underpayments, workplace bullying, and discrimination.
We are a small and tight-knit team of eight that embraces and values flexibility in the workplace. We work in a high-volume and fast-paced environment where efficiency and attention to detail are critical.
The Role
We are seeking a permanent full-time Associate to join our expanding team. The role is based at our East Melbourne office, with flexible and remote working arrangements available.
The role will involve working with senior lawyers of the firm in providing legal advice and representation to employees in a range of employment law matters. The lawyer will be responsible for providing advice to clients, drafting legal documents, conducting legal research, appearing regularly in the Fair Work Commission and Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, managing files under supervision, and associated administrative work.
The Skills
The following skills and qualifications are essential:
Knowledge of Australian employment law
Strong legal research and writing skills
Strong negotiation and advocacy skills
Ability to quickly build and maintain strong client relationships
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Bachelor of Laws or higher qualification in law
Admission to practice law in Victoria and removal of supervisory position
