We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Rural Student Coordinator to join our team at the Atherton Rural Delivery Office as part of the College of Medicine and Dentistry.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Starting in early 2025, you will manage clinical placements for JCU medical students across Atherton, Mareeba, Mossman Hospitals, and local General Practices in the Hinterland region.
You will coordinate placement logistics, communicate with students, academics, clinicians, and training staff, and develop rosters to align clinical activities with placement objectives.
Working with the rural placement and accommodation teams, you will ensure students meet all JCU and QLD Health policy requirements and monitor their attendance and performance, providing timely feedback to academics and clinicians.

You will also facilitate orientation for students, ensuring they are well-prepared for their placements and able to immerse themselves in the local community.
Through your work, you will support JCU's commitment to reconciliation, sustainability, and equity, while fostering strong relationships with local healthcare providers and contributing to the development of rural clinical education.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
Qualifications and experience in line with the appropriate Higher Education Worker Level as provided in the Enterprise Agreement.
Experience in, or the ability to acquire proficiency in, the administration of clinical placements and education for health professional students in public, community, and private health care settings.
High level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate appropriately, effectively, and confidentially with a range of stakeholders including, Students, Training Posts, Doctors, Allied Health Professionals and Academics.
Well-developed organisational and time management skills; ability to work largely unsupervised and respond to competing priorities.
Demonstrated computer and technology literacy, with skills in a range of computer software e.g.
Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe.
Demonstrated empathy and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.
Experience in the use of videoconference, teleconference, and web conference communication technologies for educational purposes.
Knowledge of the tertiary sector including administrative systems and procedures.
