J&E Asphalt & Civil Pty Ltd is a multi-disciplined road works contractor that services Sydney Metro and surrounds. Founded in 1978, the company began with the simple purchase of a second-hand grader. From there, the business slowly grew from grading to asphalting sports courts, car parks, and roads.

Due to an increasing workload in the Sydney/Greater Sydney area, we are looking to further grow and strengthen our company with enthusiastic and experienced personnel and are currently seeking an Asphalt Estimator.
The successful candidate for this role will have responsibilities that include, but are not limited to: Complete the analysis and preparation of accurate tender process and submission; Initiate client quotations on a when needed basis; Maintain our fast turnaround time with competitively priced quotes and tender submissions; Organisation and scheduling of works including: coordinating subcontractors, sourcing materials, and associated pricing; Liaise and build relationships with our clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to build and enhance the J&E Asphalt reputation; Interface with customers, architects/engineers, and contractors to provide information for cost data regarding project feasibility; Identify estimating project risks and opportunities; Internal resolution of potential issues affecting the cost-effectiveness of tender submissions and post-tender negotiations; Regular monitoring of market processes and cost trends; Regular interaction with the Site Supervisor and others; Make recommendations for Business Development in existing and new business opportunities; Review job costs on projects and compare bid vs. build for projects estimated; Compile job billings ready for invoicing. To be considered for this role, the applicant must possess the skills, qualifications, and knowledge outlined below: 4+ years of experience as an asphalt paving estimator; Understand how to read plans and possess a sound knowledge of asphalt construction; Knowledgeable in asphalt specifications, applications, and job execution; Knowledge of the local contractors and businesses is strongly preferred; Ability to demonstrate advanced written skills, strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills; Proven record of being a self-starter and able to work under limited supervision; Proven success in delivering projects on time and on budget; Ability to maintain excellent client relationships and identify potential new business; Ability to demonstrate a high knowledge, understanding, implementation, and commitment to HSE requirements; Intermediate knowledge of computer skills.
