IT Solutions Architect
Overview
The Business Solutions Branch has a requirement for an experienced IT Solutions Architect to support and assist a holistic approach to DFAT ICT investments and programs to better support citizen/business through effective digital services. We're looking for curious minds to help us work to assist to define modern connected and digital services that will support the delivery of our key priorities, integrate whole of government standards and initiatives and deliver a simpler modern customer experience. This role requires the successful candidate to have an extensive background in solutions development in the Microsoft stack using modern cloud technology.
You will be a great fit for the role if you meet the criteria of:
Demonstrated experience as a Solution Architect within a federal Department – including writing high level and detailed designs and engaging key suppliers (cyber security etc) and business stakeholders, to achieve the right design outcomes.
Proven ability to document Azure/.Net based architecture, solutions and processes up to secret level.
Provide detailed technical advice relating to on premise and cloud architecture and technologies.
Experience leading and supporting a team of technical experts in defining guidance, coding standards and best practices for solution development and maintenance.
Multiple years of Microsoft .Net experience doing full stack development including using Azure resources such as Functions, Logic Apps, PaaS SQL, API Manager, Service Bus, Entra ID, and deployment using YAML pipelines.
Strong understanding of the cyber landscape, and specific Australia Government requirements and best practices along with industry best practices.
You have the ability to work under pressure, deliver business outcomes and work effectively as part of a team with a focus on leading teams to provide quality services to DFAT.
DFAT currently utilises the SFIA global skills and competency framework to provide a common standard for describing base role requirements and level classifications. Only candidates that meet the specified relevant Skill Level/s should be put forward for consideration.

Work Arrangements
It is expected that the successful candidate will be available to perform the services on a full-time basis up to a maximum of (1,920) billable hours / annum, which is based on an allowance of 240 working days x 8 hours / day over the initial engagement period. DFAT's preference is for the services to be provided on-site at DFAT's office location (51 Allara Street, Canberra). Flexible working arrangements may be considered on a case-by-case basis i.e. (3 days in office + 2 days from home). Interstate/remote working arrangements will not be considered.
