The IT Project Manager within ESD's Product, Planning & Performance (PPP) division, has a pivotal role that orchestrates technical and non-technical projects to enhance our service delivery. The incumbent utilizes a variety of methodologies to meticulously manage project scope, schedule, resources, and risks, fostering a culture of collaboration.
This role takes a proactive approach to stakeholder engagement, translating complex information into clear language, driving projects to completion on time and within budget. Within PPP, the Project Manager is connective tissue between business and technology, maintaining stakeholder engagement, and managing projects to achieve strategic goals.
Some of your duties may include: Initiate Complex Projects: Obtain approval from the portfolio and steering team, coach, and guide stakeholders. Translate Concepts: Simplify complex information into everyday language. Work with Partners: Collaborate with project partners, including briefings for senior executives. Project Implementation: Oversee project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure. Resource Management: Efficiently manage human and financial resources. Budget Administration: Administer the project budget and control costs. Schedule Development: Create a detailed project schedule and plan. Leadership and Direction: Provide guidance to the project team, sponsor, and stakeholders. Provides ideas and perspectives on process or practice improvements that may be easily implemented. Risk Management: Monitor progress, analyze problems, develop mitigation strategies, and adjust as needed. Report Project Status: Communicate project status to sponsors, stakeholders, and agency executives. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in computer science or closely related field AND five (5) years' experience managing high value IT projects of increasing size and complexity. OR A combination of education and/or relevant IT experience totaling nine (9) years. AND the following demonstrated experience for all applicants: Experience using industry standard project management processes as defined in the Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK). Experience managing complex projects that followed an industry standard Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). Experience using business and management principles involved in planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources. Preferred/Desired Qualifications: Formal Agile, Project Management, PMP Certification, or Scrum training. Ability to engage and lead a team of technical and business staff. Effective communicator, which includes verbal, written and listening. Highly organized and able to keep track of all aspects of the project. Demonstrated problem solving ability.
