Purpose of the Position
As the IT Manager for Batchelor Institute, you will play a pivotal role in the administration of our Information Technology infrastructure and operations. You will be responsible for ensuring our technology solutions align with the strategic goals of the Institute while maintaining high levels of security, efficiency and usability. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a strategic mindset to drive innovation and continuous improvement within our IT department.
Key Responsibilities Develop and implement IT strategies and initiatives aligned with the Institute's objectives. Evaluate and recommend technologies to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Collaborate with senior management to define technology roadmaps and long-term IT goals. Oversee the implementation and maintenance of all IT infrastructure components, including hardware, software, networks, and telecommunications. Ensure the availability, security, and scalability of IT systems and services. Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers. Lead and mentor a team of IT staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Delegate tasks and set priorities to ensure timely completion of projects and support tickets. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide professional development opportunities for team members. Develop and enforce security policies and procedures to protect Institute data and IT assets. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in cybersecurity. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA). Develop and manage the IT department budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and allocation of resources according to Institute priorities. Monitor expenses and justify investments in IT infrastructure and projects. Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to employees. Develop and implement training programs to enhance IT literacy and proficiency across the organization. Selection Criteria Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information technology or related field (Certifications such as CISSP, PMP, or ITIL are a plus.) Proven experience in an IT management role Demonstrated success in overseeing IT operations and leading teams. Strong technical knowledge across IT domains such as systems administration, network infrastructure, cloud computing and cybersecurity. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with Institute stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in culturally diverse teams within the social, political, and cultural environments of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, communities, and organisations. Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment. Sound understanding of budgeting and financial management principles as they relate to IT. Proven track record of implementing IT projects on time and within budget. Understanding of Work Health and Safety principles and practices, and ability to comply with Institute WHS Policies and Procedures. Desirable Selection Criteria Knowledge of factors affecting regional and remote communities and NT and Commonwealth government policy directions.
