About the role
The Specialist Assistant to Food Technology will work closely with Food Technology teachers to ensure classes are well-prepared and efficient. This includes setting up materials, managing supplies, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting students as needed. This role is ideal for someone who is organised, enthusiastic about food, and eager to support hands-on learning.
This role is ongoing and part time (0.6 FTE, 3 days per week, Monday to Wednesday).
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare ingredients, equipment, and resources for practical classes. Support students and teachers during lessons with food preparation and safe food handling. Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment, including regular cleaning of equipment, benches, and storage areas. Monitor and manage food and supply inventories, ensuring items are stocked and ordered as necessary. Assist with washing, sanitising, and storing kitchen equipment and utensils. Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards. Occasionally assist with planning and organising school food events or displays. Skills and Qualifications:
Knowledge and/or experience in food preparation, food safety, or a similar kitchen-based role. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. Understanding of safe food handling practices. Good communication skills, with the ability to support students in a positive and respectful manner. APPLICATION PROCESS
