Established on 1 January 2023, our work spans numerous portfolios, supporting departmental ministers and operating across metropolitan, regional and international offices. We oversee various public entities, including public corporations, regulatory authorities and specialist boards.

Ongoing, full-time role (flexibility may be available)Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne CBD (flexibility may be available)The Team & Role The International Investment team within Investment and Engagement leads the attraction and facilitation of foreign direct investment into Victoria. The Americas team provides support to Victorian Government Trade and Investment (VGTI) offices in New York, San Francisco, Boston, Washington and Santiago, Chile and works directly with international companies to promote Victoria as an investment destination.
Main responsibilities:
Support the delivery of the Victorian Government investment attraction strategy to identify and engage with companies based in the Americas with foreign direct investment potential to secure jobs, capital investment, innovation and strategic projects to Victoria.Proactively research, interpret and apply business plans and policies across priority sectors including Advanced Manufacturing, Agri-food, Health and Life Sciences, New Energy and Digital Technologies and offer innovative thinking to support investment lead generation in these areas.Interpret and analyse data and policies to provide high level advice, and guidance to ministers and senior executives on the economic issues and trends relevant to Invest Victoria's key sectors and potential economic impact on Victoria, including the contribution to strategic policy and development of Ministerial briefs and cabinet submissions.Support investment activities and engagement with international companies, including analysis on issues, strategies and initiatives relating to projects as well as supporting client relationships, development of visit programs and identification of key targets.The Team The position of Investment Officer - Americas forms a part of the Business Invest and Engagement Branch within the Invest Victoria Group.
This branch contributes to the development and implementation of Victoria's Investment Strategy as well as being responsible for:
Proactively identifying and leading Foreign Direct Investment opportunities around key areas including Digital Technologies, New Energy, Agri-Food, Life Sciences and Advanced Manufacturing.Improving the business investment environment through the development of new investment attraction measures, identifying areas for improvement, and leveraging additional economic development benefits from a range of government activities.Developing whole-of-government mechanisms (such as facilitation services) and associated frameworks.Managing and co-ordinating the State's investment pipeline for the Americas.About You This role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge across our key sectors along with an understanding of the global business environment, the critical nature of innovation to the economy and investment trends. Enthusiasm to drive efficient processes for the Europe & Americas team will be valued to enhance performance. The successful applicant will work effectively as a member of a team, enjoy flexible working arrangements and undertake a wide variety of work across the Invest Victoria business.
