About the Role
The Investment Manager plays a key role in driving the investment process at Breakthrough Victoria, managing deals from initial sourcing through to due diligence and execution.
This role requires a high degree of independence, initiative, and collaboration with senior team members.
You will be instrumental in identifying, evaluating, and advancing opportunities that align with Breakthrough Victoria's mission to foster innovation and drive economic growth.

Key Responsibilities:
Conduct market research, financial analysis, and thorough company assessments to develop and support transaction structuring and negotiation, applying good quality control over all financial, commercial, and valuation analysis.Prepare investment reports and recommendations supported by analysis, evaluation, and assessment consistent with professional investment practices and in accordance with Breakthrough Victoria templates, for investment committee consideration.Contribute to and support the sound management of the investment pipeline; prioritising work streams, updating pipeline records, managing information/due diligence requests, and working with internal and external SMEs to validate investment theses.Work closely and cooperatively with internal teams to ensure the successful delivery of the Breakthrough Victoria investment and corporate plans.Develop and maintain great relationships with our ecosystem partners and stakeholders such as investors, startups, incubators, and accelerators to drive outcomes for Breakthrough Victoria.Remain up to date on industry trends, emerging technologies, and the competitive landscape in which Breakthrough Victoria operates.
Key Requirements:
Experience in due diligence, valuation, structuring, and negotiating investment opportunities.Significant experience in venture capital, private equity, corporate finance, consulting, or related fields.Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesise large amounts of data and approach investment challenges with innovative solutions.Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present data-backed proposals to diverse audiences.Understanding of various asset classes and investment practices, with a particular focus on innovation and disruptive technologies.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with a range of stakeholders.At least 4 years of relevant investment experience, with exposure to venture capital investments being advantageous.A bachelor's or master's degree in commerce, finance, economics, or a related field is preferred.
