Southern Rural Water is currently seeking an experienced Investigator – Water Resources to lead compliance activities and strategic investigations into breaches of the Water Act 1989.
In this role, you will provide expert guidance and leadership to operations and compliance teams, ensuring thorough investigations and effective enforcement across Groundwater & Rivers and regulated irrigation districts.
You will be responsible for confidently navigating complex cases, managing difficult conversations, and delivering reasoned assessments of challenging cases. This role will involve working across diverse locations covering the following West Regions:
West– South Australian border to the Moorabool basin and Werribee River, taking in major centres including Werribee, Geelong, Colac, Ballarat and Warrnambool. As the Investigator – Water Resources, some of your responsibilities will include:
Interpreting and applying relevant sections of the Water Act 1989 and other legislation to achieve SRW's compliance objectives. Contributing to the development and implementation of policies and strategies that promote best practices in compliance, licensing, and regulatory matters. Conducting comprehensive investigations that encourage long-term compliance. Offering advice and education to promote adherence to water legislation among customers, the community, and other stakeholders. About you The successful candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate some of the desired experience and abilities below:
Cert IV Government Investigation or equivalent qualifications. Extensive experience in investigations, compliance, and enforcement, with a strong understanding of government, legislative, regulatory, and licensing frameworks. Proven ability to lead and coordinate investigations to drive results in a complex compliance environment. Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to develop robust solutions to complex challenges.
