About the Job
About the role The Investigator Rail Safety supports the Manager Rail Safety Investigations by conducting thorough safety investigations for the Public Transport Authority (PTA).
This includes supporting divisional investigation requirements, analysing incident data and trends, and ensuring the quality of all rail safety investigations.
The role requires a demonstrated ability to conduct investigations with a strong focus on interpreting and applying relevant legislation and regulations.
The position involves implementing and reviewing others' investigations against policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legislative and PTA requirements while maintaining consistency, impartiality, and integrity.
The role includes maintaining updated knowledge of investigative practices, managing incident data to identify trends, and developing actionable plans.
Key tasks include attending and investigating major accidents, conducting interviews, analysing systemic causes, and facilitating the closure of investigation actions.
Building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and contributing to the Rail Safety & Governance Branch are also integral to the role.
About You! To excel in this role, you should possess:
Proven expertise in conducting investigations, interpreting, and applying legislation and regulations, and possessing or working toward a relevant tertiary qualification in investigation.Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication abilities, including negotiation and conflict resolution.Advanced capability in data analysis, information gathering, and oversight systems to address complex issues effectively.Exceptional time management and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to work independently, as part of a team, and outside standard business hours when required.Proficiency in using relevant software and advanced computer skills for effective data management and reporting.About Us The Public Transport Authority's (PTA) vision is to be recognised as a leader in providing world-class public transport services and solutions.
