About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Business Development Manager to join our Industry Services Business Line in Australia. Our Australian Industry Service team is a partner to energy & infrastructure sectors through asset integrity management and engineering-based technical solutions.
In this role, you will be responsible for driving new business opportunities and expanding our client base within the energy and infrastructure sectors (mining, oil and gas, energy and infrastructure). This includes identifying and pursuing opportunities in support of large-scale, complex engineering and infrastructure projects around the world. You will leverage your technical expertise and business acumen to build relationships, secure new contracts, and ensure the continued growth of our technical assurance services.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development Strategy: Develop and implement a business development strategy to promote the company's engineering-based technical assurance services and asset integrity management to potential clients across the energy, infrastructure, and construction sectors. Client Relationship Management: Establish and nurture relationships with key decision-makers, including project owners, contractors, and engineering firms, ensuring long-term partnerships and repeat business. Opportunity Identification: Research and identify new business opportunities, market trends, and key projects that align with the company's capabilities in the energy and infrastructure industries. This includes both public and private sector projects. Proposal Development: Collaborate with internal technical teams to develop tailored proposals and bids for large-scale energy and infrastructure projects. Ensure proposals highlight the company's expertise in technical assurance, risk management, and quality assurance services. Sales Target Achievement: Meet or exceed sales targets and KPIs related to revenue growth, project acquisition, and client retention. Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation to contract negotiation. Market Intelligence: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitive landscape, and technological advancements in the energy and infrastructure sectors. Share insights with internal teams to inform service development and market positioning. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, technical, and project management teams to ensure client requirements are understood and met. Provide input on service offerings and assist with the development of marketing and sales materials. Contract Negotiation & Closing: Lead contract negotiations, ensuring that agreements align with company goals and objectives, while also meeting client needs and expectations. Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of sales activities, client communications, and progress towards business development targets. Provide regular updates and reports to senior management. Qualifications & Experience
Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in business development, sales, or account management, with a focus on the energy, infrastructure, or engineering sectors. Experience with technical assurance services, risk management, or quality assurance is highly desirable. Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with project lifecycle, regulatory compliance, and safety standards in the energy and construction industries. Sales & Negotiation Skills: Proven track record of driving business growth, identifying new opportunities, and successfully closing high-value contracts. Strong negotiation and presentation skills. Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and build rapport with senior executives and clients. Global Mindset: Ability to work on international projects and understand global market dynamics and regional business practices in energy and infrastructure. Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically, identify market opportunities, and develop long-term growth strategies.
