These characteristics are reflected in the dynamic and vibrant classroom environments found in regional schools. Strong parent-teacher relationships and supportive school environments are a feature of these schools and complement proactive approaches to managing student behaviour.Teachers find joining local sporting clubs and participating in community events enhances their relationship with both students and parents. Teachers in regional schools report a high level of job satisfaction, enjoying the strong personal relationships they establish with students and parents and appreciative of the recognition they receive in the community.To teach in a Western Australian public school, you must have a recognised, completed initial teacher education qualification. This may be a completed Bachelor of Education, or equivalent, or an undergraduate degree and a post-graduate teaching qualification. Please note that the Department does not recognise the Qualified Teaching Status (QTS) certification where it is not held in conjunction with a suitable Initial Teacher Education qualification, awarded by a recognised university.If you did not complete your teaching qualification in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Canada, the Republic of Ireland or the United States of America, you will be required to demonstrate your English language skills, through an International English Language Testing System (Academic) (IELTS) test. Evidence of this is an eligibility requirement prior to submitting an application. The scores required are an average of level 7.5 or more across the 4 components of listening, speaking, reading and writing, and no score below level 7 in any of those components and a score of level 8 or more in the components of speaking and listening.Your working rights and how we can support youTeachers with existing Australian working rights are encouraged to apply to this pool. Please make note in your application if you do not require visa sponsorship.The Department of Education can provide visa sponsorship through an employer sponsored visa. An example of this is for appointment for up to 4 years on a Temporary Skill Shortage Visa (482) for Early Childhood, Education Support and Secondary teachers, and 2 years for Primary teachers.
