About The Position The International Student Admissions Officer is responsible for assessing applications of students applying to study at the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT). The Officer collaborates with the CIT International Recruitment team, education agents, CIT and external clients to meet agreed student recruitment target. The role is responsible for assessing the risk profile of all international student applications to determine the likelihood of obtaining a student visa and provide relevant support the recruitment function as and when required.
Key Areas of Responsibility and Accountability Advising prospective students on the requirements for applications and assessing them in line with the internal policies, procedures, the CIT International matrix. Making final determinations on the eligibility of international applications and the issuing of Letters of Offer in line with relevant policy, procedures and legislation. Meeting the service standards for application turnaround while maintaining quality of assessment and service. Liaising with CIT and other key stakeholders to ensure that applications are processed effectively including ensuring applicants meet the necessary Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) and course entry requirements. Communicating, as required, with applicants, internal and external stakeholders such as education agents, sponsors and other channel partners on the status of applications or to request additional information. Collaborating and communicating closely with internal stakeholders including the Recruitment team to share information on application status, conversion rates and to inform risk management policy and practice. Undertaking administrative duties required to process applications including issuing Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCOE), batching overseas health cover, issuing Letters of Offer, issuing of confirmation of studies letters, extensions, deferrals, withdrawal and refund of fees. Identifying and implementing continuous process and operational improvements. Undertaking recruitment tasks as required based on the business cycle. Assist with alternative duties as required. Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience (Selection criteria) Degree qualification in business administration or similar stream. At least 1-year experience in international education sector or a similar role. Prior experience in vocational or higher education will be highly regarded. Understanding of the various RTO regulatory and compliance requirements including ESOS legislation, National Code of Practice, ASQA, CRICOS and other relevant bodies. Maintaining a Working with Vulnerable People registration. Key Performance Indicators Stakeholder Relationship Management
Maintain communication lines with recruitment team: Including but not limited to providing feedback agent performance (identifying priority agents), visa reporting outcomes and visa grant rates per country/age group through all staff meetings and emails. Report all Studylink issues to the Studylink helpdesk. Daily follow-up on active status Studylink applications allocated to you and absent staff allocations as required. (Active statuses include: More Information Required, Submitted, Assessing, Assessing third party, Referred to agent, Pending acceptance, conditions approved, unconditional offer, conditional offer, acceptance processing, acceptance received, deferral requested, withdrawn by applicant, visa refused). Respond to emails, and study link notifications within 24 hours. Assess submitted applications/extensions and deferrals (commencement of studies) and issue the deferral eCOE/s. Process any financial transaction related to the application. Complete all processing within 24 hours. Issue new commencement eCOE/s within 24 hours of payment being finalised. Issue confirmation of studies letters within a 5 working day turn around period (to include any LOO and eCOE adjustments if required). Maintain 100% accurate update of status in Studylink. Meeting 28-day refund processing requirements. Work to continually improve turn-around times of applications (reference to turn around time reporting). Innovation and Commercial Acumen
Meet Conversion targets (applications vs enrolments) per month. Review and update the CIT International matrix quarterly. Review and update ACT Year 12 equivalence quarterly. Full-time ongoing position You will primarily work from our Bruce (Canberra) office where you will have access to ample free parking.
