Our client is an award-winning, local BC distillery founded and operated by international industry veterans. They are currently seeking a Director of Whisky Sales & Marketing responsible for overseeing the sales and marketing of their spirit portfolio to liquor retailers (retail, On Premise, Clubs, etc.) across domestic and international markets.
This position reports directly to the CEO and is a member of the Senior Leadership Team. The position will lead a small sales team and will manage multiple sales agencies, distributors, and contract based whisky ambassadors.
This role offers a base salary (120k target, based on skills & experience), uncapped commission, equity, and full benefits.
Key Responsibilities
Manage sales team (national and international) and recruit/manage a team of Brand Ambassadors (contractors)Recruit and manage relationship with multiple 3rd party sales agenciesDrive Revenue Growth with agency partners, sales and ambassadorial team to secure points of distribution while establishing, maintaining, and growing a solid base of retail accountsAnalyze and report sales and inventory data, providing input on industry trends to help assure competitive positioningProvide sales support and build brand awareness through events, media and social mediaManage off-site inventory levelsParticipate actively in senior leadership team meetings
Key Qualifications
Experience growing beverage alcohol brands in international markets, including the US (required) and other (asset)Network of international spirits distributor contacts5-10 years experience in the spirits industry, ideally in Whisky or brown spiritsStrong understanding of beverage alcohol industry, both domestically and internationallyStrong sales management experience with proven success growing brands in domestic and international marketsStrong analytical skillsAbility to lead, develop and mentor a sales team
