Your Opportunity Our Intensive Family Support Service (IFSS) is a voluntary, early intervention program designed to increase the safety and wellbeing of children, young people, and families at risk.
Through tailored support and resources, IFSS assists families in identifying and addressing issues, reducing the need for further involvement with Child Safety.
This role is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of families, creating pathways to stability and security for those in need.
As an Intensive Family Support Worker based in Geraldton, you'll be a vital part of our Intensive Family Support Service, dedicated to creating and nurturing sustainable change for families facing multiple, complex needs.
Your role will be instrumental in reducing immediate risks to child safety and wellbeing, working proactively to prevent children from entering or re-entering the statutory child protection system.
By providing compassionate support and guidance, you'll empower families through reunification processes and help them strengthen their resilience and capacity to navigate challenges.
Your Key Responsibilities Respond to referrals from the Department of Communities.
Actively work with families to create individualised support plans including referrals to supplementary services.
Assist individuals and families to transition from intensive family support into independence or other services.
Engage families in their homes and at other suitable locations, to overcome barriers to engagement actively and proactively.
Facilitate and develop relationships with services that work with and support children and families in collaboration with the Department.
Undertaking case management including reviews, reporting and administration functions Create and update individualised case management files for all clients.
Coordinate and participate in stakeholder meetings with other services and clients.
Ensure the safety of children is foremost in all case planning, actions and thinking.
Position Requirements With a significant background in the child, youth & family sector, you will be confident in your assessment processes.
Other requirements include: Relevant degree with at least one years' experience or Associate Diploma with relevant experience or less formal qualification (or working toward a qualification) with substantial years' experience preferably in social work, human services and/or other social science discipline.
Experience working within a child safe model of practice including an understanding of the definitions and indicators of child abuse and neglect.
Familiarity of working with families with complex issues and needs.
Strong and demonstrated skills in risk assessment, safety planning, crisis support, referral, and advocacy.
Good case management skills with the ability to create individualised case plans and undertake collaborative problem solving with families and other services.
Ability to keep accurate and up to date records with a high level of written and verbal communication, administration, computer, and keyboard skills.
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Experience and knowledge of Aboriginal cultural systems and protocols.
Full driver licence with no restrictions.
