About the Position
Position DescriptionThe Integrated Youth Services Project Manager is responsible for the coordination and delivery of the first 18 months of the Integrated Youth Services (IYS) program at New Dawn. IYS is a safe place for youth to get support for mental health issues, addictions, and other needs. For more information, visit IWK Health.
The IYS Project Manager is responsible for liaising with coalition partners, advisory committees, government funders, and the community at large, ensuring the project design, delivery, and timeline reflect the needs of youth in the CBRM. They will also serve as the main point of contact for the project contractor during renovations.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesServe as primary contact for the project contractor during space renovationsCoordinate space for meetings on site at New DawnAct as the go-to person for everything involving the project's organization and timelineAttend all construction/design team meetings as a representative of New DawnComplete tasks assigned or assumed between meetings to ensure project flowInvolve other New Dawn staff as needed to ensure questions/topics are addressedCarefully review agenda and meeting materials prior to contractor meetingsServe as site point of contact for project, addressing questions/needs of site supervisor and/or tradesProactively anticipate and identify risks (to construction, budget, timeline), raise anticipated risks with contractor, and work collectively to resolve them in advanceContinuously evaluate success and identify areas of improvement for future projectsReport and escalate issues to management as neededMaintain close, open, ongoing relationships with all project partners and stakeholdersHelp collaboratively develop, articulate, and abide by project goals and visionEngage stakeholders in the space design and renovation as neededEnsure final space is reflective of the needs of the youth of the CBRMProvide stakeholders with regular updates on project progress and timelineWork with partners on community engagement/education efforts around the projectProject Budget and Timeline: Maintain sole responsibility for project timeline and budget on behalf of New Dawn/ownerAs challenges/changes arise with the timeline, work closely with the contractor to resolve favorablyEngage others from ND and the coalition partners when trade-offs are needed to meet budgetMaintain excellent records of the project – records will inform operations/warranty in the futureSeek out external advisors as needed if/as project budget and timeline challenges ariseAsk at each meeting with the contractor: are we on time and are we on budget?Community Engagement Tell the story of the project as it unfoldsUnderstand who the project stakeholders are and engage as appropriateKeep the CBRM community informed of progressRespond to community inquiries in a respectful and informative mannerWork with provincial funders and partners to create and maintain social media momentum/presence for the projectRepresent the project in the media as inquiries are receivedProject Planning Develop a detailed project plan to track progressIdentify and track needs, timelines, and milestones for contractors and project partnersQualificationsMinimum one (1) year experience in a project management roleCurrent and up-to-date Criminal Record CheckGood interpersonal skillsExceptional attention to detailHighly organized and able to work well under pressureAble to work independently as well as with a teamProficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Maintains positive working relationships to achieve organizational goalsWilling to accept responsibility, show good judgment, initiative, and resourcefulnessAdheres to principles of confidentiality, complies with training and ethical guidelinesDemonstrated project management experience and/or construction experienceWork ConditionsManual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripheralsOvertime may be required; working evenings/weekends as neededInteracts with employees, management, and the publicEnvironment can be busy/noisy at timesAbout New DawnNew Dawn Enterprises Limited is a private, volunteer-directed non-profit social enterprise dedicated to community building.
