This is a Dual role on a Fixed term Full-Time opportunity ending May 2025. This position is based in Queanbeyan with travel to the Goulburn and Cooma regions. The Family Therapist position works within the Queanbeyan region and Intake Worker position across all three regions within the Family Preservation: Functional Family Therapy – Child Welfare FFT-CW Program.
Key Selection Criteria: Intake Worker
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Demonstrated skills and experience in an intake or relevant service delivery role. A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. Aboriginal Health Worker, Bachelor of Social Work, Psychology). Highly developed interpersonal and engagement skills. Ability to relate to children, young people, and families from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Primary objectives
The Intake Worker is responsible for engaging with families who are referred to MacKillop's Functional Family Therapy – Child Welfare (FFT-CW) Shoalhaven team, assisting families to understand the FFT CW service, and completing the intake and exit process for each family including the collection of pre and post FFT-CW service evaluation data.
Key selection criteria - Family Therapist
The incumbent will have:
A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people, and their families. A Bachelor's qualification in Social Work or Psychology/ Aboriginal Health Worker / Community Welfare Worker or Master of Counselling. Post Graduate training in relevant child, adolescent and family clinical practice, family therapy, and systemic thinking is strongly preferred. Clinical experience working with families/adolescents strongly preferred. Primary objectives
The FFT-CW Family Therapist provides Family therapy utilizing the FFT-CW model to client families where a child/ren are referred to the program by DCJ because of the child protection risk to the family and the imminent likelihood of an OOHC placement for the child/ren. Therefore, holding and reducing risk in the family home is a paramount objective for the person responsible for the role.
The incumbent must possess:
A valid and current NSW Driver's Licence. A valid and current NSW Working with Children Check. A satisfactory criminal history check conducted by MacKillop Family Services. A valid and current NDIS Worker Screening Check. Our Commitment:
