Intake Officer, Justice and Attorney-General Department of Justice & Attorney General QLD – Brisbane QLD Full time, Contract, Part time, Casual/Temporary The Intake Officer works in the Child Protection Conferencing Unit at the Dispute Resolution Branch.
The role provides intake services for families and professionals attending court ordered conferences under the Child Protection Act, 1999 (Qld), the Dispute Resolution Centres Act 1990 and other relevant legislation.
These conferences discuss the future care of children deemed to be at risk of harm.
Your key responsibilities: Prepare parents, professionals and convenors for child protection conferences by effectively and empathically conducting telephone interviews.
Support and advise convenors by writing clear and accurate pre-conference information briefs.
Manage an individual caseload to make appropriate decisions and take all necessary and timely actions to manage each case.
This includes addressing logistical issues for conferences and maintaining appropriate records.
Exercise sensitivity and sound judgement with a wide range of individuals involved in the child protection system, including young people who have experienced or are at risk of harm, parents, legal representatives, court and government officers, conference convenors and other key stakeholders.
Assist the Case Coordinator to liaise with and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders in government and non-government agencies with respect to child protection conferencing services.
Undertake administrative tasks in a timely and accurate manner to support team operations.
Assist in the delivery of presentations and training regarding child protection conferencing.
Participate in professional development and supervision.
Contribute to the state-wide services provided by the Dispute Resolution Branch by liaising and working cooperatively with staff across its different services and branches.
