Selection CriteriaDemonstrated ability to teach a musical instrument, theory and practice to a satisfactory level.Demonstrated ability to assess and monitor student progress according to VELS and VCE.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents, students, and the community.Demonstrated ability to support and develop individual and group performances within the school and student performances in the community.RoleThe instrumental music teacher/instructor has the qualifications and/or professional experience and demonstrated expertise to teach students a musical instrument(s), theory, and practice. They develop and support individual ensemble band and orchestra performances and assist technically with instruments, electronic equipment, and sound systems.
ResponsibilitiesThe role of classroom teacher may include but is not limited to:
Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students;Contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of a curriculum area or other curriculum program within the school;Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings; staff meetings; camps and excursions;Undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties.Who May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
