RoleMcKinnon Secondary College requires a capable and enthusiastic Double Reed (Woodwind) teacher for individual student, group tuition and small ensemble direction across the two Campuses. This vacancy is for 0.4 EFT.
- The applicant is required to teach oboe and bassoon in group and individual classes.
- Piano accompaniment skills would be an advantage but not a requirement.
- The successful applicant will be able to teach and demonstrate on all double reed instruments at all levels from beginner to advanced and be versed in a range of music styles.
- The College requires all instrumental music teachers to demonstrate a high level of competency in teaching instruments in groups.
- The successful applicant may be required to either direct a small woodwind ensemble and/or assist with one of the concert bands.
- Instrumental music teachers work with the Managers of Instrumental Music and Woodwind Leader to coordinate the allocation of students to instrumental music classes and oversee the maintenance, repair, purchase and replacement of relevant equipment.
ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities of an Instrumental Music teacher may include but is not limited to:
Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students.Contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Music curriculum area within the school.Undertaking other related and organizational duties as determined by the School Principal and/or the Managers of Instrumental Music.Participating in activities such as parent meetings, staff meetings, concerts, camps and excursions.Complying with the timetable and professional ethos of the school.Creating a positive environment conducive to learning for the students in line with the school's well-being and pastoral care policies.Who May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
