The ideal candidate will have a strong background in brass instruments (such as trumpet, trombone, French horn or tuba) and a commitment to nurturing students' musical skills, confidence, and enjoyment of playing brass.
ResponsibilitiesThe applicant is expected to:
Be fully qualified to teach elected instrument/s from beginner level to VCE.Have a comprehensive understanding of the Victorian Music Curriculum and VCE music and how instrumental music will contribute to student achievement.Be able to teach both individuals and groups of students.Work individually and in a team environment and assist with the development of the instrumental music programs planning and projects.Promote the instrumental music program and assist with the recruitment of students into the program.Be available for planning, performance and rehearsals, and assist in the organising of school music events.Conduct a school ensemble.Report on monitoring student progress, maintaining records including attendance, behaviour and academics within school guidelines for reporting.Timetable students on Compass Management System and produce up-to-date timetables.Check and maintain instruments.Collect students from their class if they do not arrive in 5 minutes.Who May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
