YOUR ROLE IN OUR FUTURE Instrument Technician Grade 3 - Casual Role
 
We are seeking an experienced and qualified Instrument Technician for our Operating Theatre. This role will provide support to other Instrument Technicians within the team in our department. You will also liaise between Peter Mac and the RMH CSSD (within the Decontamination Aspect).
 
Please note Peter Mac does NOT have its own dedicated CSSD department. Peter Mac has a small, specialised Instrument Technician team who perform tasks including scope processing, decontamination and surgical set-ups.
 
Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre is home to 8 Operating Theatres, including Endoscopy. The Department covers a variety of specialities including Plastics/Breast, General surgery, Gynaecology/Brachy, Urology, Robotic, Head and Neck, Colorectal, Vascular & Upper GI. Your responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to);
· Collect, clean and decontaminate Scope Equipment used by the Operating Suite and Clinical units on a daily basis.
· Load and unload the STERIS/ECOLAB AFER (according to instructions and general duties list).
· Inspect and Decant items as required within the Decontamination Room. · Prepare Operating Theatre set-ups for the following days surgeries.
· Assist with the De-Boxing Room
· Liaise with RMH when sending Dirty Instruments to their CSSD. Also Liaise with RMH when receiving the clean instruments each morning.
· Place clean Instruments & Steri-Peel in their Correct Locations within the day.
 
ABOUT YOU: PREREQUISITE
As an outstanding Instrument Technician, your skills will include:
· Instrument technician qualification, Certificate III or IV (or equivalent) from an accredited institution
· A minimum of 12 months experience working as an instrument technician is desirable
· Must be able to undertake work of a more complex nature within established procedures and guidelines
· Ability to rotate through all areas of the department.

Remuneration as per Health and Allied Services, Managers and Administrative Workers (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2021-2025. Instrument Technician Grade 3 (IN3) $36.00 per hour plus applicable casual loading.
