As such, we are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced teacher for the position of Instructional Leader Literacy: K-4. This newly created leadership role attracts a 1-point remuneration. This is a full-time position commencing Friday, 31 January 2025.About the roleThe Instructional Leader forms part of the middle leadership team. The position is co-responsible with the Pastor, Principal and other Catholic lay leaders for the evangelising and catechising mission of the Church within an educational context. Reporting to the Dean of Early Years, the Instructional Leader plays a vital role in ensuring that the SCS values of empathy, excellence, truth, curiosity and collaboration are drivers for establishing a thriving Catholic community.The Instructional Leader is responsible for leading schoolwide excellence in pedagogical, curriculum and assessment practices and supporting the implementation of new pedagogies for learning in their key learning area(s). The Instructional Leader is an exemplary practitioner who builds the capacity of teachers to deliver excellent student outcomes.This full-time role is scheduled to commence on Friday, 31 January 2025. The Instructional Leader Literacy: K-4 position is a promotional role, temporary for up to 3 years; however, your classroom teaching position (1.0FTE) will be full-time and permanent.Major AccountabilitiesThe Instructional Leader is required to perform tasks that include but are not limited to:Supporting the leadership of a school-wide culture of excellence, informed decision-making, and collaborative practice.Working with the leadership team and other stakeholders in implementing a range of improvement strategies to ensure effective strategic change.Actively promoting the integration of Catholic values and Catholic Social Teaching across the curriculum.Ensuring consistency of teaching practice and shared teacher judgement drives assessment.Demonstrating exemplary classroom teaching practice in their curriculum specialty.Cultivating a contemporary and effective learning culture.Developing and implementing effective and evidence-based professional learning to build the capacity of teachers.Ensuring evaluation of teaching and teachers' goal setting related to performance and monitoring performance goal achievement.Leading and collaborating within a culture of ongoing growth and improvement.Demonstrating organisational, management and leadership skills.Analysing data and trends within the school to identify areas for growth.Actively promoting the relationship between student wellbeing and learning growth.Contributing to a 'network approach' that promotes the reciprocal benefits of school system.Ensuring all work activities align with SCS' vision, mission, values and Capability Framework.Reporting all concerns regarding child safety and allegations of inappropriate conduct to the line manager and the SCS Child Safety team.Promoting and implementing Sydney Catholic Schools mission and vision.Any other duties as directed from time to time.Key DutiesYour primary duties will include:Demonstrating and leading exemplary, innovative and evidence-based real-world learning practice in selecting, organising and evaluating the content and delivering learning and teaching programs in the curriculum specialty.Tracking student performance within the faculty and ensuring that effective assessment, responsiveness to data, timely feedback and differentiation are embedded within teaching programs and practices.Coordinating administrative and governance processes related to curriculum and assessment.Developing and facilitating effective and evidence-based professional learning and dialogue to build the capacity of teachers.Monitoring teachers' goal setting related to performance and evaluating the achievement of set goals.Knowledge and ExperienceEssentialNESA recognised qualification in Education or Teaching.Experienced Proficient Teacher who can demonstrate success in improving student outcomes and implementing school-wide initiatives.Demonstrated practice of the Higher Levels of Accreditation.Experience in leading staff in professional learning.Demonstrated organisational, management and leadership skills.Deep understanding, engagement and experience in key learning area/s of expertise.Experience in using data analysis to inform educational initiatives.Category C Accreditation (or working towards).Technology proficiency in Google Suite.A valid Working With Children Check (WWCC).Willingness to respect, support and uphold the mission, ethos and teachings of the Catholic Church.Previous experience in a similar role.Postgraduate degree in Education or other related discipline.A current driver's licence and access to a car.Knowledge of Catholic Systemic Schools/Systems.Is a practising Catholic with demonstrated evidence of ongoing commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church.Why Work for Sydney Catholic SchoolsIn joining Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS), you will be part of the largest Catholic education community in NSW, with a unified vision and shared resources.In addition, we offer:Remuneration package valued at up to $136,142.Salary packaging of up to $15,900 annually.Ongoing training and development opportunities.Discounts on gym classes and memberships.Generous Employee Referral Program.Application ProcessPlease click on the 'Apply' button and follow the steps to submit your application.
