Full time Salary: $110,115 - $120,760 plus an additional 15.4% super
Location: Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth
Position Overview The Energy and Resources Innovation Lead, under the direction of the Service Delivery Manager, and as part of the broader Energy and Resources team, is responsible for:
Building, developing and prototyping solutions steered by customer and operational requirements, to enhance E&R service delivery, quality and efficiency.Collaborating and consulting with customer and operational teams in E&R to identify and implement innovations.Spearheading a pipeline of innovative service improvements, and maintaining awareness of the latest science through a close working relationship with the wider parts of the Bureau.The role requires technical expertise, a deep understanding of energy and resources customer requirements, and experience developing innovative solutions for Energy and Resources customers.
By working closely with the wider Energy and Resources team, the Innovation Lead will use their technical skills, supported by colleagues in the Science and Innovation Group, to undertake service development and enhancements to the Bureau's offering for the customers and sector at-large.
A solid understanding of meteorology, oceanography, climatology or hydrology as well as scientific programming and software development is essential to be successful in this role.
Specifically, technical skills in areas such as data analysis, data visualization and statistical analysis with weather, climate, hydrological and oceanographic datasets are required.
Skills and experience with data science techniques in the application of machine learning are also highly regarded.
A good candidate will have in-depth knowledge of critical weather parameters for energy, resources and telecommunication customers.
The ideal candidate will have qualifications in a scientific discipline such as meteorology, climatology and oceanography, and will have or will be working to achieve them in data science/analysis.
Experience in software development in a Linux environment and programming with Python will be highly regarded.
This role is a new part of the Service Delivery capability within the Energy and Resources team.
This capability may be multi-disciplined and will involve working with colleagues across several programs of the Bureau, including managing technical input from areas such as research and operational forecasting.
The role will also be required to provide technical input for customer teams in the development of proposals, identification of technical solutions for customers, and may be required to work collaboratively with customers to discuss service improvements and develop pilot projects.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about service delivery and strive to deliver an excellent experience for customers, through the innovative application of data analytics and scientific techniques.
The role will also be required to translate the latest scientific advancements into customer-focused services.
This position would suit an applicant with strong technical and good communication skills, who has a high degree of initiative and ability to self-manage.
