Northern Star Resources has an opportunity for an experienced Injury Management Coordinator to join the team at our Kalgoorlie Operations, on a 5-month fixed-term contract until end of April 2025. This is a residential, Kalgoorlie-based, 5:2/4:3 (10-hour days) roster.
Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, you will support the business, ensuring the health of all workers through proactive injury management, the facilitation of workers compensation processes and the championing of general health and wellbeing strategies.
Key responsibilities include: Safety Requirements Participate in creating a safe and healthy work environment and promote positive safety culture.Actively lead and coordinate injury management and health projects to achieve successful outcomes.Display a clear commitment to safety and health, and seek to eliminate or control the risks of injury and/or damage to equipment.Operate in accordance with and comply with the Company's Safety and Health Policy, and with all site policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.Proactive involvement with continuous OHS improvement processes.Active participation in all communication and awareness systems.Display a clear commitment to responsible environmental management.Operate in accordance with the Company's Environmental Policy, and comply with other site environmental policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.Manage all activities in a manner that prevents pollution and minimises damage to the natural environment.Minimise waste generation through reduced consumption and increased re-use and recycling.Stakeholder Requirements Establish mutually acceptable methods of communication, consultation and participation processes with external injury management and health providers.Operate in accordance with the Company's Stakeholder Policy.Specific Departmental Requirements Coordinate the management of workplace injuries and workers compensation by regularly liaising with the applicable injury management contractor, treating practitioners, the external rehabilitation provider and the company insurer.Facilitate return to work programs for employees and provide advice on injury, health and medical matters to operations personnel and management;Communicate with medical and allied health providers to develop and implement return to work programs and plans for workplace injuries;Coordination of clinical intervention and recommendations as required.Develop and implement pro-active injury management and rehabilitation strategies alongside relevant internal/external stakeholders to achieve desired fitness for work outcomes;Maintain accurate and detailed records/files of injury management activities.Provide effective case management strategies for injured workers.Where required, travel to and from the worksite to accompany injured workers at medical review appointments, as required.Prepare and provide analysis and interpretation of injury management and health data.Ensure that health, hygiene and injury reporting requirements meet internal and external requirements.About you? Qualifications Required Occupational Health, Nursing, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapy or Exercise Physiologist qualifications desirable.Injury Manager or Return to Work Coordinator Certificate.Provide First Aid Certificate.Desired Experience & Competencies Certificate IV in Work, Health and Safety.Minimum three years occupational health/injury management experience, preferably in the mining industry.Knowledge and understanding of Fitness for Work requirements, Ergonomics, Workers Compensation and Occupational Health Rehabilitation Services.Strong leadership and communication skills.Good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems, word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet applications.Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to positively influence others.Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.Awareness of the Workers' Compensation and Injury Management Act 2023.Awareness of the Work Health and Safety Act & Regulations.Eligibility:Candidates must meet our pre-employment criteria which includes a medical, drug and alcohol screening, relevant right to work and valid Australian national police clearance.
