The Role The Initial Assessment Planning (IAP) Worker plays an important role in assisting our customers who present as being homeless or are at risk of homelessness.
You will display empathy and use your solutions-focused approach to conduct assessments with our customers with the view to preventing and minimising homelessness in the community.
You will assess our customer's eligibility and assist them to obtain adequate accommodation through the provision of housing information, direct financial assistance, and/or targeted referrals to relevant external services.
Advocating on our customer's behalf, you will liaise regularly with external stakeholders including Centrelink, real estate agents, and private landlords.
About You To be successful for this role, you will have a genuine passion for wanting to support vulnerable people in our community.
Essential Criteria: Qualification and/or demonstrated experience in Social Work or another relevant social discipline.
Relevant skills and experience in working effectively and sensitively with a diverse customer group with complex needs.
Confidence in liaising with various stakeholders including vulnerable people.
Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and a caring and empathetic nature.
Previous experience working on MS Office programs.
Ability to compose professional correspondence via email to internal and external stakeholders.
A current driver's licence.
Desirable: Previous experience working in the social/community housing industry.
