Infrastructure Technician / Technical Officer - Satellite Communications

My client is seeking a motivated Infra Technician / Technical Officer to work at a satellite ground station in Dubbo and maintain gateway facilities.
This is a Perm role paying $80,000-90,000 + Super. You will work at a satellite ground station facility, which is 10 mins outside of Dubbo (NSW), where you will monitor the gateway facilities, respond to incidents, and manage remote hands requests. During infrastructure deployment projects, you will oversee third-party contractors, ensuring they adhere to site policies and health and safety procedures.
You will also handle preventive maintenance tasks for data center and satellite gateway facilities, maintaining service levels and keeping stakeholders informed. The role will involve using your RF, mechanical, and electronics skills to maintain and troubleshoot equipment.

Conducting site checksMonthly generator testsResponding to incidentsTroubleshooting technical issuesFixing/replacing HPA antennas for customers, sometimes working at heights up to 10 meters on an elevated work platformOrganising plumbers and electriciansMaintaining/repairing network infrastructure equipmentThere will be some after hours or on-call duties required for emergencies, but typically, this will be a 9-5 job.
The ideal candidate will have experience with satellite communications equipment, particularly in a ground station or teleport environment, or will have worked as a technician in a data center. They are also open to someone who is ex-army or needs to be trained up. The main thing is that you are customer focused, willing to learn, and have a good attitude. Other desirables are mechanical skills with a good understanding of electrical and electronic test equipment, and an understanding of RF communications systems (e.g., satellite communications, microwave).
