Utilities Technical Regulation works with gas, electricity, and water utilities providers to ensure secure supplies of the essential services Canberrans rely on every day.
An exciting opening in the Water team has been created to undertake regulatory activities for dams, water, and sewerage networks and stormwater harvesting and reuse schemes.
The Utilities Technical Regulation team consists of regulatory officers, project officers, policy officers, engineers, and consultants.
Under the guidance of the Director of Water Infrastructure Regulation, you will be responsible for engaging with utilities and stakeholders on technical matters, analysing technical documentation from utilities, observing testing of emergency plans, and contributing towards the development of legislative instruments, technical codes, and guidance materials.
A key requirement of the role is the provision of quality written work, especially correspondence and briefings to the Technical Regulator, but you should have good verbal communication skills also.
The Utilities Technical Regulation team works flexibly from the Dickson Office Building, home, and other ACT Government buildings across Canberra.

Eligibility/Other Requirements: Mandatory: Hold a relevant professional qualification or accreditation with a professional body recognised within Australia; orHold a relevant building degree; orHave significant building or infrastructure knowledge and/or project management experience.Key requirements of the role: Experience working with regulators or within a regulatory environment.Knowledge, skills, and experience in dam safety, and/or with networks of water, stormwater, and/or sewerage.Demonstrated ability to apply technical expertise to identify compliance issues in the water sector.Tertiary qualifications in civil engineering and/or related technical disciplines are highly desirable.
Note: This is a permanent position.
