About the team The ICT Operations Branch provides ICT support and underpinning infrastructure services to the department and the Ministers' Offices, ensuring all staff in the department and MOs have access to stable and secure technology. The ICT Networks & Infrastructure Platforms section falls within the ICT Operations Branch. The Infrastructure Platforms team is responsible for the management of all data centres, virtualization, automation, storage, backup and restore capability. The team is also responsible for providing after hours on-call support for our infrastructure. We currently have a role of Infrastructure Engineer within the CIO Division at the APS6 Level. has knowledge or experience in one or more of the following technologies: HPE One View, HPE Interconnects, HPE DL, BL, Synergy and Apollo Servers, VMware v Sphere, Site Recovery Manager, v Realize Operations, v Realize Log Insight, Data Center Operations. has a sound understanding of ICT concepts, good digital literacy, and an ability to learn new technologies quickly. has strong interpersonal skills, is emotionally intelligent and has experience with stakeholder engagement. be exceptionally organised and can support others with staying on task and juggling conflicting priorities. can balance user needs with divisional objectives and priorities, and confidently negotiate outcomes with tact and diplomacy. be able to easily translate ICT and digital concepts into simple terms. be comfortable in a changing ICT environment. has a proven ability to show initiative, think critically and solve problems. possesses a professional and supportive customer service approach. thrives in collaborating within a team environment and working across other teams. What you will do Support day-to-day operations and be involved in project work of Infrastructure Platforms team. Infrastructure Platforms team is responsible for managing the Department's virtualization environment, server hardware, storage area network, backup and replication systems and data centres. Administer and develop the Department's VMware virtualization platforms and HPE compute infrastructure. Monitor and manage day-to-day activities in running the Department's data centres, data rooms and state office server rooms. These include: racking and cabling of physical hardware engaging vendors to resolve issues with UPS generator and air conditioning systems managing contracts with third party service providers securely disposing decommissioned hardware auditing data centre racks and maintaining rack diagrams. Participate in On-Call roster to ensure availability of the Department's infrastructure after hours. Eligibility To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens. Positions require a Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
