Information Technology Scientist (Grade 3) - Pathology Excellent employee benefits including salary packagingWork for Australia's leading Children's HospitalAbout the Role This is a fixed term position to 28th August 2026 at 56 hours per fortnight within the Laboratory Services Department. In this position you will be responsible for staff onboarding, training and managing access requirements for Laboratory and IT Systems as required and manage delivery of results to external clients. You will be expected to provide advice, guidance and support to user groups including Laboratory Services Department Managers about service enhancements, updates and disruptions, and take part in the on-call requirements for the department.
Classification for this position will range from RY9 – RZ3 Grade 3 year 1 to Grade 3 year 4 (base salary $108,820.40 to $123,905.60 per annum, plus superannuation).
What you'll achieve: Management and planning of updates / upgrades / Patching as requiredTest and validate changes to programs after creation/modification & before release to general usersEnsure documentation and compliance with NATA Accreditation and NPACC Guidelines, in relation to laboratory system and communication protocolsEnsure timely and relevant reporting to internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodiesPerform audits of user accounts access and other quality audits as requestedYour skills and experience Tertiary qualification in Medical/Applied ScienceMinimum of 5 years post-graduate experience in pathology or IT related fieldAn understanding of the healthcare sector, previous experience in working with Laboratory Information Systems in a diagnostic pathology laboratoryPrevious experience with integration of Electronic Medical RecordsIf this sounds like you, click here to view the position description.
About the Department The department of Laboratory Services provides a comprehensive, high quality, diagnostic pathology service to both the Royal Children's Hospital and the Royal Women's Hospital, as well as to Specialist Consultants and General Practitioners in the community. The Laboratory Services Information Technology Scientist will support the delivery of all IT functions within Laboratory Services.
