Western Plains is a multi-purpose facility that adapts to the evolving needs of Corrections Victoria.
It features purpose-built modern amenities including medical wards, a cultural centre and vocational training facilities.
It also utilises cutting-edge technology to keep the facility secure, allowing staff to focus on supporting the rehabilitation of people in custody.
Western Plains will open mid-2025 and Corrections Victoria are now recruiting key roles to help shape the future operations of the facility.
About the role As part of the Workforce and Prison Services (WPS) team, the Information Technology Officer sits within the Technology Services Team, supporting staff in the use of technology, hardware and applications.
In this role, you will provide technical support and advice across the facility for video conferencing equipment and in-cell devices of people in custody, whilst supporting the Offender Services Network in terms of asset maintenance, auditing and reports.
As the position requires direct contact with the people in custody at Western Plains, you will be required to work on-site.
You will also be required to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, as required.
Appropriate remuneration and penalty rates will be applied.
About you We are looking for people with experience in troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues, including telecommunications and video conferencing equipment.
You will have proven experience in delivering high-quality customer service and be able to manage your workload to varying deadlines and timeframes.
You will also be proficient in Microsoft Windows 10 and the Microsoft Office 365 Suite, with an aptitude and willingness to learn new technologies.
A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as information technology is highly desirable.
