Western Plains Correctional Centre (Western Plains) is Victoria's newest maximum-security correctional facility, designed to house up to 1,248 people in custody.
Western Plains is a multi-purpose facility that adapts to the evolving needs of Corrections Victoria. It features purpose-built modern amenities including medical wards, a cultural centre and vocational training facilities. It also utilises cutting-edge technology to keep the facility secure, allowing staff to focus on supporting the rehabilitation of people in custody.
Western Plains will open mid-2025 and Corrections Victoria are now recruiting key roles to help shape the future operations of the facility.
About the role
The Information Technology Coordinator sits within the Technology Services Team and supports a wide range of IT systems and technologies across the facility.
Working collaboratively with the Operations Team, you will help implement projects and support staff and people in custody with the everyday use of technology and applications.
In this role, you will:
Develop, manage and provide technical support for local IT systems and resources. Act as the Offender Services Network (OSN) administrator, overseeing system requirements, upgrades and maintenance. Liaise with internal and external suppliers on project rollouts, installation and repair of IT equipment and prisoner network computers. Undertake technology audits and reporting as required. As the position requires direct contact with people in custody at Western Plains, you will be required to work predominantly on-site. You will also be required to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, as required. Appropriate remuneration and penalty rates will be applied.
About you
With proven experience in the delivery of high-quality services, you will possess strong workload management skills and be able to ensure timely delivery in a dynamic work environment. You will also have practical knowledge across a variety of IT and computer operations. Experience in programming languages, developing code and implementation of IT related projects would be advantageous.
The following experience is also desirable:
Android and iOS mobile devices, Microsoft Windows 10, Microsoft Office 365 Suite. IT hardware lifecycle management. Experience managing or overseeing small teams. Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as information technology. Please note, candidates must hold either Australian or New Zealand citizenship, or Australian Permanent Residency to be eligible for this role.
