Salary Band: $76,304 - $90,143 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)
About the Role The Information Technologist is a member of the Network Services team who support the University's complex voice and data network environment. The incumbent will focus on network projects and support the Network Services team and other ISTS teams on various projects and daily tasks contributing to network functionality. The Information Technologist uses their technical expertise and local knowledge to resolve most of the technical network related faults and provides valued customer service to staff and students. Wireless Access Point EOL, Wireless Service Improvement, Campus Layer Switching Upgrade and Data Centre Switch Replacement Project work – October 24 - Dec 2025.
Wireless Surveys
Replacement Planning and working with FMU
Co-ordinate quoting and cabling replacements where necessary to move Access Points or to re-cable to match technical standard (Cat6 or Cat6a)
Physical installation of equipment
Auditing of cabling
Auditing of network port usage
About UniSA ISTS Information Strategy and Technology Services (ISTS), is responsible for the strategic and operational provision of UniSA's considerable IT infrastructure and services with approximately 150 staff working in 9 key areas. The University's Network Services environment provides the underlying resources for data, video and telephony services that support the University's core business of Teaching, Learning, and Research. The network is based on best practice enterprise architecture consisting of Access, Distribution and Core layers, each performing a role in providing aggregation and services to the network. In addition to the standard model, two interconnected Data Centres provide a further aggregated core layer.

Wireless access across all campuses
On-campus MPLS core network
Firewalls and Internet gateway security
Load balancing services
Wide-area inter-campus links
Authentication and authorisation services
Remote access services using Virtual Private Networks (VPN) connections for off-site users
Voice systems
The converged real-time data network (voice, video and data) forms a vital part of the University's IT infrastructure which has a target uptime of 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. The Information Technologist is an integral part of the team in ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of the University's Network Services environment.
Essential Skills and Experience
Relevant tertiary qualification (normally a degree) or equivalent knowledge and skills
Demonstrated ability to quickly become a productive member of a team and to collaborate effectively with other staff from other teams.
Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, a high level of customer service
Experience in diagnosing and supporting complex data networks, including implementing and maintaining software configurations for active network components such as switches, routers, firewalls and wireless network infrastructure
Demonstrated experience working with IP networking, DNS, DHCP, routing protocols, Ethernet and switching technologies and experience in configuring, diagnosing and using the network software components of end user devices and client applications which use the network
