What to Expect As the lead industrial server engineer on a multi-functional OT team in APAC, you will specialise in server engineering, and also support network engineering for industrial environments.
This role will provide server and networking implementation, management, automation and support.
The successful applicant will contribute to a global server architecture, meeting internal and external customer requirements and industry regulations.
What You'll Do Lead the deployment and management of server infrastructure at APAC energy sites Assist with supporting networks at APAC energy sites Work closely with other APAC OT team members, and a worldwide OT team, on designs and initiatives with a global impact Function as a Tier 2-3 escalation point for internal teams and external clients Gather requirements, analyse, and propose solutions to server needs Provision, implement, test/validate, and maintain services per solution design Conduct product POC evaluations, engage vendors and contribute to designs Monitor, analyse, and report metrics of services Create documentation and implement automation to speed up processes Meet Australian critical infrastructure security requirements Must be able to work occasional weekends, after hours, and holidays Must be able to lift 50lbs/25Kg Participate in on call rotation 15% travel required as necessary What You'll Bring 5+ years experience managing virtual servers in a production industrial or manufacturing environment, preferably in the energy industry 2+ years experience managing production industrial or manufacturing networking infrastructure, preferably in the energy industry Operational experience with VMware virtualisation solutions, including ESXi, vCenter, high-availability, shared storage Operational experience with Windows Server, SQL Server, Veeam, Active Directory, and related technologies Operational experience with Linux and related technologies Operational experience with high-uptime Operational Technology environments Operational experience with automating VMware, Windows and Linux server management, such as with PowerCLI, PowerShell, Python, Ansible, shell scripting, etc Operational experience with multi-vendor industrial switching technologies including Cisco IE (IOS and IOS XE/IOx), Hirschmann, Siemens, Beckhoff, Moxa, N-Tron, Redlion and similar industrial switches and PLCs.
Operational experience with IP networking, L2/L3 network protocols (industrial ring protocols, spanning-tree, BGP), IPSEC, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, end to end QOS/COS (focused on industrial real-time protocols), VLAN, VRRP, LACP, SDWAN, EVPN with VXLAN, ACL, application flow, NAC, and infrastructure cabling.
Operational experience with Cisco Zone-Based Firewall, Cisco ASA, Juniper SRX Palo Alto Networks, or Fortinet firewall services, including Application inspection, IPSEC VPN, URL filtering, and IDS/IPS.
Operational experience with industrial protocols such as MODBUS, DNP3, CIP Ethernet/IP, PROFINET, BACnet, EtherCAT, IEC61850 and similar protocols.
Experience with automating network infrastructure deployments and management, such as with Ansible, Python, shell scripting, etc Experience with other common non-industrial switching platforms such as Juniper, Arista, etc.
Experience with various tools such as Wireshark, SNMP, Netflow, IPAM, RADIUS, Splunk, network taps, SPAN ICS scanners (CyberVision, Claroty, Tenable, etc.
), and load/stress testing.
Experience with gathering requirements and designing solutions to meet them, and selecting, justifying and explaining tradeoffs Experience with industrial security frameworks, standards and processes such as the Purdue Model, IEC62443, AESCSF and the SOCI act A strong focus on documentation CCNP, CCNA, or equivalent; or industrial certifications preferred Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and other common tools Capable of lifting common field and rack mount server hardware Capable of being trained to and working in industrial environments requiring PPE and general safety awareness
