The Project UGL and CPB Contractors have been awarded the early works contract to support Powerlink's delivery of CopperString 2032. This $5 billion iconic project will initially be approximately 840 kilometres of new transmission line running from just south of Townsville to Mount Isa that will connect Queensland's North-West Minerals Province to the national electricity grid.
The project scope includes: 500 kilovolt (kV) transmission line from just south of Townsville to Hughenden330kV transmission line from Hughenden to Cloncurry220kV transmission line from Cloncurry to Mount IsaUp to six new substation sitesThe Opportunity This exciting project has now commenced construction, and we are looking for an experienced IR Manager to join the team. Reporting to the People & Culture Manager, this role will be based out of the Brisbane project office located in Bowen Hills and will require infrequent travel to project sites where required.
As the IR Manager, you will co-ordinate and lead all industrial activities related to the negotiation, approval, and implementation of project related Enterprise Agreements, providing support and advice across the project on all employee relation matters.
Key Responsibilities Provide expert advice and support to our project team relating to industrial instruments, relevant legislation, and internal policies.Represent the Project in the negotiation and management of enterprise agreements and other industrial instruments.Support and mentor the project HR advisors and leaders with managing industrial relations matters.Participate in the Project procurement processes to ensure all subcontractor proposals are assessed for Industrial Relations risk.Ensure all mobilised subcontractors are compliant with all relevant codes prior to contracts being signed and then maintain compliance during the duration of their association with the Project.Develop and implement industrial relations strategies and policies that align with project objectives.Conduct investigations and provide guidance on grievance and disciplinary matters.Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements and all relevant Company and Group policies and processes.Develop frameworks, systems and processes that support sustainable industrial relations compliance.Build and maintain strong relationships with the client, employees, unions, and other relevant stakeholders.Represent the project in industrial tribunals and other relevant forums.About You Proven experience as an IR or workplace relations specialist with exposure to complex industrial environments, including both blue and white collar workforces.Experience within the construction, engineering, mining, or energy industries will be highly regarded.Comprehensive knowledge of industrial relations principles, practices and their corresponding interaction with business performance.Sound judgment and problem-solving abilities, balancing the motivation for immediate solutions with the discipline to ensure decisions complement the overall business objectives.Evidence of capacity to provide accurate and timely advice to all levels of management on a wide range of industrial relations issues including capability to interpreting industrial instruments and employment related legislation.The successful candidate will be required to hold a current Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card or equivalent) and undergo a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing) prior to commencement.Where applicable, evidence of tertiary qualifications and proof of right to work will be required prior to successful appointment.
