About the Opportunity Walhallow Aboriginal Corporation is looking for a full-time Aboriginal Health Education Officer based in Quirindi, NSW.
As the Aboriginal Health Education Officer, you will spearhead the design, implementation, and evaluation of innovative health promotion programs.
Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, you will champion health literacy, address chronic disease prevention, and empower community members to take charge of their wellbeing.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to: Developing and implementing community health projects focusing on chronic disease, preventative health, and maternal/child health Collaborating with regional health agencies and multidisciplinary teams to deliver culturally sensitive healthcare programs Creating educational programs to improve health literacy and encourage community engagement Facilitating referral pathways to ensure access to appropriate healthcare services Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of health programs and preparing comprehensive reports Ensuring compliance with program guidelines and best practices in health promotion Building strong relationships within the community to understand health needs and priorities Promoting cultural awareness and respect through health education initiatives Managing project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively Participating in professional development activities to maintain and enhance skills About You To qualify, you will need a Certificate III in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (equivalent qualification).
A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in community health project management, or a related role, will also be essential.
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued: Strong communication and project management skills Experience working within Aboriginal health contexts Ability to work autonomously and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams Knowledge of chronic disease management and preventative health strategies Understanding of culturally sensitive healthcare practices As our ideal candidate, you will possess excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, along with a strong passion for community engagement and improving health outcomes for Aboriginal communities.
