The Department of Education and Training has an exciting opportunity available supporting schools and communities across Central Northern Territory to implement Indigenous Language and Culture programs.
We are looking for a passionate educator with experience working with Indigenous people and their languages.
As the Teaching and Learning Coach – Indigenous Languages and Cultures, you will travel across the Northern Territory providing the following services to our schools:
Providing differentiated support to schools with the implementation of Indigenous Languages and Cultures programs within the school curriculum, including teaching, learning, and assessment.Working with community linguists, teachers, and assistant teachers to develop language-specific curriculum and materials.Collaborating with community members and schools to develop and curate curriculum and resources appropriate to the local language situation.Collaborating with relevant department staff and community members to use evidence-based approaches to facilitate improved outcomes in language curriculum delivery.Building capacity of school staff to apply the Indigenous Languages and Cultures programs that are flexible and responsive to school and community contexts, including the use of data literacy practices to inform targeted school improvement.Coordinating and providing professional development for Indigenous staff, which might include basic literacy, development of language teaching strategies, accredited Vocational Education and Training (VET), and tertiary studies.Developing and maintaining comprehensive and effective professional networks and collaborative partnerships to achieve outcomes in remote and very remote school locations.This is a great time to consider moving to the Territory.
